TESTING: Navigating Health Insurance
THIS COURSE IS FOR TESTING PURPOSES ONLY. In this live 1.0 credit/contact hour webinar participants will have the opportunity to learn how charitable assistance from nonprofits can assist patients with their healthcare related costs, including health insurance premiums, transportation assistance, medications, and durable medical supplies. Afterwards, participants will learn about ESRD Medicare eligibility, coverage, costs, enrollment and coordination with employer insurance. What patients should consider when deciding between Medicare coverage or a Marketplace insurance plan will be discussed.

Navigating Health Insurance: How Public Options, Private Coverage and Charitable Assistance Can Work Together for ESRD Patients

After participation in this activity, learners will be better able to:
- List the patient eligibility requirements for the American Kidney Fund’s (AKF) Health Insurance Premium Program (HIPP) and the financial programs offered
- Recall how an individual with ESRD becomes eligible for and enrolls into Medicare, and the basic costs for Medicare beneficiaries
- Identify the coordination of benefits between ESRD Medicare and employer insurance
- Review of the basic rules and coverage for beneficiaries specific to the ESRD patient regarding Medicare including the option of Marketplace coverage
Accreditation/Designation of Credit Information:
The National Kidney Foundation is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Awarded 1.0 contact hours of continuing nursing education.
The National Kidney Foundation is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). CDR Credentialed Practitioners will receive 1.0 Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEUs) for completion of this activity/material.
This activity is available for credit through January 17, 2017.
The National Kidney Foundation Council of Nephrology Social Workers, Provider #1014, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. The National Kidney Foundation Council of Nephrology Social Workers maintains responsibility for the program. Social workers participating in this course will receive 1.0 continuing education clock hour.
